SUMMARY: The Trainer Lead is responsible for coordination of training delivered on the production floor and for providing skills-based training to employees as needed. While in their trainer role, they will assess the training needs of employees and change the style of training to meet those needs. The Trainer Lead will encourage and motivate all employees to create a positive learning environment. They will also complete regular reports to assist in the evaluation of training programs and learning outcomes. Trainer Leads will meet one on one with new hires to coach to desired proficiency level based on need. They will ensure standardized training within department based upon written and electronic SOPs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Follows all applicable safety rules and encourages safe behavior in others
- Trains on all applicable safety and food safety and quality rules
- Updates Management on current training objectives and results on a daily basis
- Coordinates and provides one-on-one skills-based training to employees
- Leads by modeling desired behaviors and coaches other employees to do the same
- Identifies and uses training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things
- Is open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace
- Accepts criticism and deals calmly and effectively with high stress situations
- Facilitates a welcoming and inclusive learning environment
- Tests trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training
- Provides one on one coaching sessions with employees in the department
- Responsible for maintaining training certification in Coach in assigned areas
- Alongside the Training Manager will create a training plan for new hires
- Assists in improving retention through relationship-building
- Maintains skill level in all other aspects of production for the department
- Exemplary attendance record required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience preferred; 6 months or more in a food production environment a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, speak and write in English preferred. Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to effectively respond to questions from employees, Supervisors, Quality Control Technicians, Maintenance and Managers. Bilingual preferred.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations and perform necessary calculations for completing departmental paperwork.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision. Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must regularly 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the physical capacity to perform all production and production-related positions since the employee will be providing one-on-one training for these positions and must be able to show new employees how to perform their essential job functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions in both inside and outside environments. The noise level in the work environment is usually at a level where OSHA required hearing protection is required.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Training Leads will work when production is in process. Saturdays and Sundays may be required.
In the event that the Training Lead is unable to perform his/her job function, the Training Manager can step in.
