Residence Life Coordinator

Job Description

The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) reports to the Director of Housing and Residence Life and is instrumental in helping students develop new skills, form meaningful connections and overcome challenges. The RLC is an integral part of a student's college journey, supporting their personal, academic and social development. The RLC manages a student staff team, offering them essential guidance, support and training; while facilitating programs that foster community engagement, personal development and a sense of belonging among residents. This position is required to live and work within an assigned residence hall; room and board accommodations are provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Provide conflict mediation and resources to students.
• Assist with the hiring, training, and supervising of Resident Assistants.
• Assist with building and departmental operations, including but not limited to, oversight of Max Communities, Residence Hall Association, Desk Assistants, Resident Assistant scheduling, Resident Assistant Council, etc.
• Oversee occupancy, room assignments, key tracking, and hall equipment for designated building.
• Participates in rotation of 24-hour on-call emergency assistance.
• Develop and oversee educational programs for residence hall students.
• Serve as a student conduct officer and investigator, assisting with investigations for Student Affairs as well as Residential Life.
• Assists with summer housing, camps and conferences, enrollment sessions, and recruitment events.
• Works with the CARE team to respond to student needs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Foundational knowledge of student development theory.
• Ability to write reports and complete all relevant documentation.
• Understanding the housing database and contract process; ability to assist students with related queries.
• Good crisis management skills.
• Basic understanding of facilities management.
• Ability to provide emergency response as required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and other general office equipment.
• Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Communication, applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, students, and the general public; sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Must have some experience in student housing, including specific experience in conflict mediation, using housing databases, and crisis management.
• A valid driver's license is required.

Physical Demands

• General office conditions. Exposed to moderate noise levels.
• Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
• Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk.
• Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
• Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
• Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
• Participates in rotation for providing 24-hour on-call emergency assistance.
• Incumbent must live in campus housing.

Hours of Work

M-F 10 am - 5 pm with additional night and weekend duties.
