The Safety Manager will provide safety leadership and strategic direction by leading the plant's safety continuous improvement efforts. As an integral member of the Plant Management Team, this position will support and advise site management regarding the Safety Management system.

Responsibilities

  1. Safety Strategy and Vision: Formulate and drive a proactive local safety strategy to establish a sustainable, healthy, and operationally safe plant. Participate in developing a visionary safety framework, continually enhancing programs, and implementing new initiatives within a collaborative team environment.
  2. Health and Safety Advocacy: Contribute to efforts aimed at eliminating, preventing, or reducing safety, health, and medical issues. Facilitate the development of a safety culture aligned with Tyson Foods' goals, acting as a change agent.
  3. Program Direction and Innovation: Lead safety programs site-wide, recommend and implement initiatives to reduce accidents, measure effectiveness, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and ergonomic standards.
  4. Compliance Oversight: Inspect machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure OSHA compliance. Maintain OSHA documentation and support plant inspections.
  5. Regulatory Compliance and Reporting: Regularly review plant operations for compliance, report violations, and analyze accident data to enhance safety.
  6. Communication and Training: Communicate safety policies, conduct inspections, and provide training on ergonomics, emergency response, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, and PPE.
  7. Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate safety incidents, review reports, and complete necessary documentation for insurance, risk management, and safety offices.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 3+ years in environmental safety and sustainability management, with knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard communication, accident investigation, safety training, and industry best practices.
  • Computer Skills: Standard computer proficiency.
  • Communication Skills: Effective presentation and response abilities, strong written and verbal skills.
  • Special Skills: Ability to interpret business and governmental regulations, technical procedures, and journals.
  • Travel: As needed.
  • Residency: Must reside in the United States; no sponsorship available.
  • Relocation Assistance: Eligible.
