Job Overview

The General Manager (GM) oversees all retail store operations, ensuring excellent standards across production, sales, staffing, budgeting, and record keeping. The GM is responsible for delivering the Goodwill 4Ps: People, Production, Protect the Brand, and Profitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage overall store operations, including opening, closing, and daily activities.
• Optimize merchandise presentation and inventory levels to maximize revenue.
• Oversee cash operations, sales procedures, and banking.
• Ensure financial performance through P&L management and operational adjustments.
• Maintain store appearance and safety standards.
• Lead staffing, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Foster exceptional customer service and handle complaints effectively.
• Manage donations, reports, and compliance with policies and laws.
• Coordinate with support departments and attend scheduled meetings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's preferred.
• At least 5 years of retail experience, with 2-3 years in management supervising 15+ staff.
• Experience with P&L ownership and employee management.
• Knowledge of retail operations, safety, and legal employment requirements.
• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Goodwill.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The role involves active standing, walking, lifting over 35 pounds, and working in retail and warehouse settings.
