JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Sports Medicine Aid will work under the direction of a Certified Athletic Trainer. This position will supportss licensed athletic trainers and therapy staff in delivering high-quality, evidence-based musculoskeletal care, injury prevention strategies, and rehabilitation support for student-athletes and community members. This role contributes to Amberwell Health's mission by promoting clinical excellence, injury prevention, and community wellness in high school-based and collegiate environments.

  • Athletic Event Support
    Assist licensed athletic trainers in the preparation, setup, and on-site support for practices, games, and other school-sponsored athletic events. This includes sideline coverage, monitoring athlete status, and aiding with acute care response under supervision.
  • Injury Prevention and First Response
    Support the implementation of injury prevention strategies such as taping, stretching, and hydration monitoring. Provide first aid and initial injury assessments under the supervision of a certified athletic trainer.
  • Clinical & Therapy Support
    Assist in therapy session setup, including the preparation of supplies, treatment tables, and therapeutic modalities. Ensure proper functioning and sanitization of clinical equipment.
  • Documentation and Compliance
    Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and follow-ups in accordance with Amberwell protocols. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, KSHAA, KJCCC, other applicable healthcare and educational standards.
  • Communication and Coordination
    Effectively communicate with student-athletes, parents, coaches, and healthcare providers. Relay treatment plans and follow-up instructions with professionalism and empathy.
  • Outreach and Community Education
    Participate in community events including sports physicals, wellness fairs, and injury prevention clinics. Represent Amberwell Health in a manner that reinforces our commitment to community engagement and education.
  • Transportation and Logistics
    Assist with the safe and timely transportation of non-emergent student-athletes to and from athletic venues, clinics, or hospitals. Transport and manage athletic training supplies and equipment for events as needed.
  • Facility and Equipment Maintenance
    Monitor the cleanliness, safety, and organization of athletic training rooms, storage areas, and event setups. Report and assist with equipment maintenance as required.
  • Administrative and Operational Support
    Aid in inventory management, cleaning of the training room, and organization of training spaces. Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth operations of athletic training programs.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience:
    • Minimum Required Experience: clinical experience with athletes and acute care of injuries
    • Preferred Experience: Two to three years
  • Education:
  • Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training
  • Licenses:
  • Minimum Required Certifications: CPR Certification
