Profile

The Director of Business Development is responsible for assessing leads, sales outreach, growing client relationships, strategic development, and managing procurement opportunities for new business and contract retention. The role supports market expansion with a focus on diversification within existing client contracts, emphasizing professional services expansion. Key growth areas include microtransit design and operations, professional services, technology assessments, and other value-added offerings. This position serves clients across the U.S. and collaborates with the Chief Development Officer, Vice President of Commercial Development, and bid team to achieve financial growth targets.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Professional Services
  • Identify opportunities within existing contracts to expand professional services.
  • Lead initiatives in microtransit design & operations, technology assessments, and other specialized transit services.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to design and present solutions that meet client needs.
  • Build and strengthen client relationships to position RATP DEV USA as a trusted, long-term partner.
Sales & Business Development
  • Assess and qualify leads aligned with company growth goals.
  • Drive relationship-based business development across services lines.
  • Support market expansion aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Conduct site visits, client meetings, and field research to identify opportunities.
  • Partner with bid teams on proposal strategies and approaches.
  • Collaborate on pricing to ensure competitiveness and sustainability.
  • Ensure proposal content meets client needs and procurement standards.
  • Contribute to positioning and messaging to differentiate the company.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Develop opportunities in professional services and transportation operations.
  • Apply strategic thinking, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Collaborate on proposal strategies without disclosing sensitive info.
  • Understand procurement processes and service delivery models in public transportation.
  • Possess or understand the professional services industry, including service design, delivery, and client engagement.
Requirements
  • Manage multiple priorities in high-pressure environments.
  • Willing to travel up to 80% nationwide.
  • Remote role with base salary plus commissions (per company policy).
