Key Accountabilities

  • Product Quality Control: Maintain safe working conditions and practices within the area of responsibility. Perform work duties in accordance with Quality System Manual procedures and Omya procedures. Ensure all activities are conducted within the applicable guidelines of cGMPs, FDA regulations, ISO 9001:2008, and FSSC 22000:2005 standards as they apply to the production of Food Grade and USP products.
  • Conduct "mock recalls" to identify, quantify, and isolate affected finished products. Supervise and/or perform quality testing on various samples, compare results, and inform the Plant Manager of irregularities.
  • Track and explain test results to appropriate individuals. Work with regional and external laboratories for analysis not possible on-site. Prepare and distribute test reports and certificates of analysis, maintaining proper filing.
  • Maintain storage of retained samples, prepare samples for external analysis, and ensure all products used for sampling are within specifications.
  • Administer cGMP and other regulatory programs, participate in developing quality control procedures, and review and revise procedures periodically.
  • Evaluate and qualify manufacturing processes and consumables changes affecting quality, including monitoring USP monograph updates related to calcium.
  • Create, implement, and maintain validation plans for new and existing products per regulations.
  • Inspect, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment, research new equipment needs, and maintain stock supplies.
  • Train employees and contractors on cGMP practices. Perform Laboratory Technician duties as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor and Plant Manager.

QSHE

  • Commit to continuous improvement in occupational safety, health, environmental protection, and quality management. Be aware of significant QSHE aspects and legal requirements, including emergency preparedness.

  • Solid line: Head of Sustainability (Region)
  • Dotted line: Head of QSHE

Team and Performance

  • Number of direct reports: 1 or 2
  • Number of total reports: 1 or 2
  • Performance measures: KPIs as per yearly MbO

Other Requirements

  • Excellent command of local language and English; additional languages beneficial.
  • Internal contacts: Sustainability teams, Operations teams, Laboratory Technicians.
  • External contacts: Vendors, suppliers, distributors, external labs, service providers, plants, quarries.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in food/pharmaceutical manufacturing or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong operating knowledge of lab and processing equipment, troubleshooting skills, communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
