Description:

Transportation/Logistics Coordinator

Transportation/Logistics Coordinator is responsible for route and network optimization and analysis attaining load consolidation and/or LTL efficiencies for cost and time within customer service expectations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide viable load consolidation, LTL shipments, and/or full truckload shipping solutions based on customer order parameters and service expectations
  • Provide input from a Customer Logistics perspective on changes in customer receiving windows to enhance distribution efficiency
  • Work directly with Customer Service to identify and provide best solution for shipment and delivery to customers
  • Calculate route and network distribution solution costs and provide variable analysis for alternatives to standard routing solutions
  • Provide analysis of plant loading and customer receiving capacity offering alternative shipping scenarios highlighting costs positive or negative
  • Analyze potential route or volume additions as added or combined Network solutions
  • Work directly with preferred carriers in all outgoing freight, to include new contracts, scheduling, negotiations, new location, set ups, follows up and carrier reviews
  • Assist and act as a backup for our Customer Service Reps to effectively manage, organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent and methodical time management skills

  • Capable of working as part of a team or alone
  • Ability with transportation or logistics optimization profiles or systems a plus
  • Knowledge of claim processes and follow through
  • Knowledge of food/refrigeration movement preferred
  • Strong skills with Excel, Word and all Microsoft Office programs
  • Customer Service experience provided
Qualification Requirement

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or experience: Associates Degree or equivalent education with 5 or more years progressive experience, or combination of education and experience. Must have experience or be familiar with inventory management systems. Food industry experience is preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to effectively present information before groups, within the organization. Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.

Other Skills

Must be computer literate with intermediate skills in Excel. Must have advanced knowledge/skills with forklifts and electric pallet jacks.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to make decisions on routine matters utilizing company policies and procedures and directions from upper management.

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance vision.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet, cold and/or humid conditions in both inside and outside environments. The noise level in the work environment is usually not at a level where OSHA required hearing protection is required but may be required.

Normal Work Schedule

The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work as scheduled
