Maintenance Technician

Description:

Key Accountabilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair all plant mechanical equipment as directed by manager.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of plant equipment and report conditions requiring further evaluation.
  • Communicate regularly with other departments regarding job status, projected completion times, and any need for assistance.
  • Perform basic equipment rigging under supervision.
  • Execute advanced rebuilds and retrofits of mechanical equipment (e.g., blowers, gearboxes, centrifuges) and perform advanced industrial fabrication as required.
  • Safely operate powered industrial vehicles.
  • Perform basic electrical maintenance and mechanical fabrication tasks as needed.
  • Respond to call-ins during nights, weekends, and holidays for emergency mechanical repairs, ensuring issues are resolved or escalated appropriately.
  • Serve as a liaison with mechanical vendors, coordinating inspections, repairs, parts availability, and verifying labor and material documentation.
  • Monitor replacement part status within assigned areas and notify the Foreman of any concerns.
  • Use plant maintenance software to review open emergency and planned maintenance jobs and accurately document work performed and job status.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and promote safe work practices within the department.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and employee training to support a zero lost-time injury record.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Quality System Manual procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance.
  • Formal training or practical experience in mechanical repair and maintenance.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of plant operations within assigned areas.
  • Competence in millwright work, machining, heavy equipment maintenance, pipe fitting, and general maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings for equipment assembly and disassembly.
  • Ability to work in environments involving solvents, lubricants, dust, fumes, and extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including: Constant standing and walking Frequent lifting, climbing, reaching, pushing, and pulling Occasional lifting of objects up to 100 lbs
