Construction Safety Professional
Project Location: St. Joseph, Missouri
Project Type: Construction within Active Manufacturing Facility (Lead Battery Plant)
Duration: 12–18 Month Project
Schedule: Monday–Friday with occasional Saturday work (40-50hrs/week)

Work Environment
This project takes place inside an active lead battery manufacturing facility, requiring
adherence to strict safety protocols. The selected candidate will be required to utilize
appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including Powered Air Purifying
Respirators (PAPRs) when necessary.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Professional to support construction
activities taking place inside an active lead battery manufacturing facility in St. Joseph,
Missouri.
This role will focus on construction safety oversight for contractors and subcontractors
performing work on-site. While the position does not oversee plant safety operations, the Safety
Professional must have a strong understanding of lead exposure hazards and control
measures due to the environment in which the construction work is occurring.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting construction projects in industrial or
manufacturing environments and be comfortable operating as the primary on-site safety
representative.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site safety oversight for construction contractors and subcontractors.
- Ensure construction activities comply with OSHA standards and project safety
- requirements.
- Monitor and enforce lead exposure control measures and site-specific safety
- protocols.
- Participate in and review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Pre-Task Plans (PTPs).
- Conduct routine site safety inspections and audits.
- Support implementation of lead hazard awareness and exposure control practices
- for construction crews.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
- Work closely with client representatives and project leadership to maintain safe operations.
- Support safety meetings, toolbox talks, and contractor orientation activities.
- Maintain clear documentation of inspections, observations, and safety metrics.
Required Qualifications
- 4–5+ years of construction safety experience
- OSHA 30 Construction Certification (required)
- Demonstrated knowledge of lead exposure hazards and associated control measures
- Experience supporting construction projects in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Ability to work independently as the primary on-site safety professional
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to enforce safety requirements while maintaining positive contractor relationships
Preferred Qualifications
- CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) certification
- Experience working in manufacturing facilities, battery plants, or heavy industrial environments
- Familiarity with industrial hygiene concepts related to lead exposure
- Experience with respiratory protection programs and PAPRs
