Manages equipment and scopes for the procedures, cleaning and maintaining endoscopes and equipment.Minimum QualificationsMedical Assistant certification (or similar healthcare training)Endoscopy Procedure room experience preferredExperience or training in the disinfection/sterilization process of endoscopes preferredEssential FunctionsAdheres to the endoscopy procedure requirements and technician functions approved for the Surgery CenterAssemble necessary endoscopes and equipment for scheduled proceduresInspect equipment and endoscopes for proper working conditionCheck procedure room for cleanliness and availability of supplies at the beginning of the dayAccurately comprehend, interpret, and respond to verbal orders and directionCommunicate information about the patient's status to other persons responsible for care of the patientApply the principles of aseptic technique and procedure room protocols to competently perform endoscopy technician functionsFollow principles of aseptic technique in opening sterile packages and performing duties in preparation for the procedureArrange endoscope according to the routine documented for the scheduled procedureMaintain availability of endoscopes and supplies to avoid delays during the procedureReport any observed or suspected break in sterile/aseptic technique and take appropriate actionObserve safety measures in patient care activitiesPerforms required maintenance of endoscopes, supplies and equipment by adhering to cleaning, care, utilization, and sterilization procedures as directedHandle equipment and endoscopes correctly to provide appropriate availability and safetyAssist in maintaining adequate supplies in the procedure room for immediate access during procedureAssist in storing and stocking supplies as directedMaintain documentation to verify disinfection/sterilization of equipment and endoscopesMaintain standards to provide safe, clean, and orderly environmentPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
