Tutors are hired based on student demand throughout the academic year.Position Information Position Title Department Department Center for Academic SupportAppointment Term Academic Year (August - May)FLSA Non-ExemptJob Summary The Math Tutor will provide academic assistance to students through one-on-one tutoring or small group tutoring in person at the Center for Academic Support or online via Zoom.Provide academic assistance to students through one-on-one tutoring or small group tutoring in person at the CAS or online via ZoomComplete rigorous training the first semester to cover clerical responsibilities, discipline knowledge, course content, and tutoring techniquesOperate the CAS front desk, which includes greeting clients, answering phones, logging clients in and out, and other light clerical tasksBuild on their knowledge foundation by studying materials and completing exercises that further their understanding of the disciplines tutoredNew fall 2026 math tutors will be embedded in general studies math courses as part of a Circle In Pilot programRequired Qualifications MoWest StudentDegree SeekingEnrolled at least part-timeMust have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPAReceived an A or B in college credit Math courses.Recommendation by the two (2) MWSU faculty membersPreferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants with MAT 110, 111, 116, and upper level course expertise or with two college credit math coursesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Physical Demands Physical Demands Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
